RECSAM 50th Anniversary Coffee Table Book

113 RECSAM, as I see It 10 Ms. Yuka Sonoyama Representative Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Malaysia Of fi ce Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has implemented various Third Country Training Programmes (TCTP) in Malaysia for African countries in collaboration with RECSAM. As an of fi cer in charge of the course at JICA Malaysia Of fi ce, I have been working with RECSAM for about two years since 2015. The most memorable moment at RECSAM was during the closing ceremony of the course. Although it was already a wonderful thing to witness all the participants completed the course successfully, but what was more impressive was that I could see the bond and friendship among participants and RECSAM staffs, which were nurtured through the everyday life at RECSAM. I could tell how useful the course was as well as how dedicated and caring the RECSAM staffs were to the course and the participants. I am con fi dent that this was only possible with the diligent work of RECSAM staffs, and I was very pleased to be a part of the scene. I really appreciate the warm hospitality shown by RECSAM staffs whenever I visit the Centre. I feel that the staffs are the most valuable assets for RECSAM as not only they are enthusiastic but also open to collaboration. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely congratulate RECSAM on its 50 th Anniversary and hope that our collaboration will develop further. Ms. Teoh Poh Yew CEO and Master Trainer Creative Wizard Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia I conducted my fi rst workshop in RECSAM with Dr. Janchai in 2003 and since then I have become a regular workshop instructor at the Centre. I’m very grateful to Dr. Janchai for helping me get started and RECSAM for giving me the opportunity to tap my talent. As I share my work with the international participants in RECSAM, I have learnt a lot from them too. The staffs in RECSAM are so kind and helpful, thus making my time spend in RECSAM a memorable one. I wish RECSAMwill continue to play its role to improve the quality of Science and Mathematics education. I also hope to continue having the opportunity to share my new approaches in developing higher order thinking skills in RECSAM. My heartiest congratulations to RECSAM on its 50 th Anniversary! Ms. Namubiru Gertrude Curriculum Specialist Mathematics and Secretary staff training and development committee National Curriculum Development Centre Uganda I am grateful for the support received from Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in funding me to attend the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) at SEAMEO RECSAM. Supplementing my knowledge of mathematics with the ideas of constructivism has certainly enriched my subsequent works in building teachers’ capacity in the teaching of mathematics with understanding. To live and study in such a creative, conducive atmosphere for three weeks was life-changing. Long live SEAMEO RECSAM and congratulations on your 50 th Anniversary!
