64 Special Projects The SEAMEO Basic Education Standards (SEA-BES) is a regional curriculum project led by SEAMEO RECSAM aimed at developing a common, shared and agreed standards detailing what every learner should know, understand, be able to do and value in science and mathematics in the SEAMEO Member Countries. This project was of fi cially launched on 4-5 November 2014 during the SEA-BES fi rst regional consultative meeting. Basically, the project will develop and publish two regional learning standards called the Common Core Regional Learning Standards (CCRLS) in Science and Mathematics. It is envisioned that the Standards will serve several purposes such as providing guidelines and reference to the SEAMEO Member Countries when developing or further reviewing their curricula, develop assessment to re fl ect good practices, pilot development, develop learning experiences from the curricula and the like.
