  • How to participate?
    First of all, you may want to download the information booklet here. Read all instruction, rules and regulations and you are on your way to 8th SSYS Regional Congress in Penang, Malaysia!!!
  • Who can participate?
    This congress is open to all secondary students from all schools in Southeast Asia and SEAMEO member countries. As long as you have a project that you think could contribute to the sustainability of the world and fits with SSYS theme, you can submit a proposal to us. Your proposal will be reviewed by our selection committee. You will get to participate in the congress if your project is selected.
  • How much is the fee?
    For official delegates, congress fee are borne by SEAMEO RECSAM. Other delegates who wish to participate in this congress are required to remit a minimum fee* of MYR 600.00. For local delegates do not opt to stay at our International House, the fee is only MYR 260.00. Payment can be made via cash, Telegraphic Transfer (TT), cheque, local order (LO). For other mode of payment, please call us for information.
    * this includes congress fee, accomodation for 5 days at RECSAM International House on twin-sharing basis, transportation and 5 meals a day.
  • When is the deadline?
    The deadline for submission of project proposal, abstract and participation forms is on 30 September 2011. As places are limited, please ensure you submit before the deadline. Submissions after the deadline may not be accepted. Those who are selected for the congress will be informed by 30 November 2011. We will also publish all selected teams on this website.

  • Where is the venue for SSYS 2012?
    The venue of this event is SEAMEO RECSAM, Penang, Malaysia. If you are planning to take an aeroplane, please ensure that your destination is the Penang International Airport. If you take a taxi to our campus, please tell the taxi driver to take you to SEAMEO RECSAM International House. Further instruction awaits you upon your arrival at the check-in counter.

  • Will the delegates have a chance to have a tour of Penang Island?
    SEAMEO RECSAM will organise a tour for all registered delegates on Thursday afternoon (tentative). You can expect to visit the UNESCO Heritage site, the ever famous KOMTAR (Tunku Abdul Razak Complex), Fort Cornwallis, the Snake Temple, etc. Rest assured that you will have a good time in Penang before your departure home.
