2 RECSAM News Vol. 50 - No. 2 RECSAM Inks MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Kanchanapisekwitthayalai Nakhonpathom RECSAM and Korea National University of Education Sealed Partnership RECSAM 11 th Five-Year Development PlanWorkshop SEAMEO RECSAM and Kanchanapisekwitthayalai Nakhonpathom (Pratumnang Suankulab Matthayom), Thailand recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate academic cooperation between the two institutions. The MOU was signed by Dr. Suhaidah Tahir, Centre Director of SEAMEO RECSAM and Mr.Suriya Chainaphong, Principal of Kanchanapisekwitthayalai Nakhonpathom on 29 July 2019 at RECSAM, Penang. Through this partnership, both institutions will conduct joint educational- related research activities, training programmes, staff exchange programmes, partnership on implementation of joint programmes and activities as well as other educational projects in areas of mutual interest. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ms. Teh Kim Hong, Acting Deputy Director (Training Programme) of SEAMEO RECSAM and Mrs. Suyada Hengchaiyo. Also present at the event was the management and professional team of RECSAM. SEAMEO RECSAM and Korea National University of Education sealed their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on 14 August 2019 at RECSAM, Penang. The MOU was signed by Dr. Suhaidah Tahir, Centre Director of SEAMEO RECSAM and Prof. Lew Hee- Chan, President of the Korea National University of Education. Signing as witness was Ms. Teh Kim Hong, Acting Deputy Director from Training Programme Division. Also present in the signing ceremony were the management and professional staff of RECSAM. Establishing a partnership through a MOU allows the two institutions to collaborate on programmes and projects that interest both parties. This also formalizes the sharing of expertise, best practices, and knowledge in the field of science and mathematics education. THE FIRST 11 th Five-Year Development Plan Workshop was organised by RECSAM on 24 & 25 June 2019. Dr. Suhaidah Tahir, Centre Director officially preceded the workshop on the formulation of the first 11 th Five-Year Development Plan for SEAMEO RECSAM. Others present during the workshop were the management and professional staff, as well as consultants; Prof. Dr. Ong Eng Tek from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and Dr. Masami Isoda from University of Tsukuba. The workshop was held for two days at RECSAM, Penang. Each Division (Training Programme, Research & Development and Administrative Division) was given the opportunity to propose the draft of research projects, programmes and activities of the 11 th Five-Year Development Plan based on five strategic goals for the upcoming five fiscal years. The recommendations and inputs gained from the two-day workshop will then serve as a basis for RECSAM to devise ways and means in order to remain relevant by increasing the impact of its research projects, programmes and activities while maintaining its regional visibility in the Southeast Asia region and beyond.
