27 Looking Back 2 The New Millennium (Year 2010 – Present) The new millennium (2010 to present) saw the implementation phases of the Ninth (F.Y. 2010/2011-2014/2015) and Tenth (F.Y. 2015/2016-2019/2020) Five-Year Plan of RECSAM. All throughout this decade, RECSAMhadaccomplished anumber of its programmes andactivities with emphasis on innovative teaching and learning strategies, technology- integrated learning, action research and lesson study to improve science and mathematics teaching in schools. Highlights and accomplishments during the decade (besides the regular training programmes) were as follows: • Post-Graduate Diploma of Education in Teaching Science and Mathematics (TeSMe) programme for teachers/educators from Aceh under the sponsorship of Human Resource Development Commission (HRDC) Aceh, Indonesia, March to August 2010 • University of Western Sydney (UWS) Australia Professional Exchange Programme • RECSAM-ICASE Seminar on “Innovations in Science and Technology Education (STE) for the 21 st Century in 2011" • RECSAM-University of Western Sydney Australia (UWS) Professional Experience Programme • ISTIC-UNESCO Regional Seminar- Workshop on Inquiry Based Science Education in October 2012 • National level trainingprogrammes on “Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) for Science and Mathematics Coaches” organised by the Teachers’ Education Division, Ministry of Education of Malaysia in collaboration with State and District Education Departments, September to October 2013 • Customised Courses for Zambian participants under the sponsorship of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Trainingand Early Education, Republic of Zambia in February 2014 • National Symposium on “Professional Learning Communities 2013” in partnership with Teachers’ Education Division,Ministryof EducationMalaysia in November 2013
