46 April 2010 • RECSAM signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Colombo Plan Secretariat to jointly administer the Professional Development Programme for Science and Mathematics Educators for Colombo Plan member countries July 2010 • Ninth Five-Year Plan (July 2010 to June 2015) November 2010 • The Teacher’s Guidebook on “Integrating Climate Change Issues in Southeast Asian Schools” was published February 2011 • The RECSAM-ICASE Seminar on “Innovations in Science and Technology Education (STE) for the 21 st Century” was held in collaboration with ICASE June 2011 • RECSAM signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with UPSI (Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris) for intellectual and technical cooperation • Workshop 4 for editing of Malaysian Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) book to document winning entries of best practices • The Asia Paci fi c Network (APN) sponsored project on Climate Change concluded with the publication of a research report • Five research projects were embarked upon: » SEARA (Southeast Asia Regional Assessment) » The Southeast Asian Regional Standards (SEARS) » Lesson Study » Climate Change » One-SEAMEO Basic Education Standards (SEA-BES) » SEAMEO Borderless School (BORDERLESS) March 2012 • The eighth ‘Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists’ (SSYS) was held with the theme “Beyond 2012: Greening the Environment for a Sustainable Future”. Other activities included public viewing, international networking and science forum entitled ‘Green Innovation and Creative Lifestyle’ June 2012 • Science camp for SK Pos Dipang, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project 2010 2011 2012 • A 3-week national level training programmes on “Higher Order Thinking Skills for Science and Mathematics Coaches” were offered to 389 Malaysia school Coaches, in collaboration with the Teachers’ Education Division, Ministry of Education of Malaysia • The Centre in collaboration with the Teachers’ Education Division, Ministry of Education of Malaysia organised a 3-day national- level symposium on “Professional Learning Communities (PLC)” • The following SEAMEO’s projects were initiated with planning of series of workshops in subsequent years for the development of: » Southeast Asia Regional Standards for Mathematics Teachers (SEARS-MT) and Southeast Asia Regional Standards for Science Teachers (SEARS-ST) 2013
