45 Milestones 3 • RECSAM with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Department inked agreement for TCTP- JICA Programmes • RECSAM with The Colombo Plan Secretariat and the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Department signed MoU for TCTP-Colombo Plan Programmes • The fi rst TCTP (Third Country Training Programme) course was conducted with funding support from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and The Colombo Plan Secretariat • National Echo-training on Human Values-based Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education (HVWSHE) supported by SEAMEO UN-HABITAT • Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) (a) Uganda and Zambia’s Mathematics and Science Education (2008) (b) Secondary Science/ Mathematis Teacher Educators Training for African Countries (2008-2010) March 2008 • The sixth ‘Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists’ (SSYS) was held with the theme “Sustainable Community Development through Science and Mathematics”. Other activities included public viewing, science forum ‘Malaysian Academy of the Advancement of Young Scientists’ (MAAYS) network and innovative educator workshop February 2009 • The Joint RECSAM- ICASE Regional Seminar on “The Way Forward for Science and Technology Education: Implication for Policy Makers” was held in collaboration with SEAMEO Secretariat and UNESCO Jakarta August 2009 • The fi rst Total Quality Management (TQM) workshop organised by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) for staff at RECSAM Nov 2009 – February 2010 • Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development (CRICED) Tsukuba University visiting foreign research fellowship programme focusing on ‘South- South Cooperation of SEAMEO RECSAM’ 2007 2008 2009 • The Post-Graduate Diploma of Education in Teaching Science and Mathematics programme for educators from Aceh, Indonesia was conducted on a six- month intensive full time basis at RECSAM • Blended-mode seminar for the launching of the fi rst e-platform in ‘South East Asia Regional Capacity- enhancement Hub’ (SEARCH) for science and mathematics researchers January 2010 • Intel Teach Program Essential Course at RECSAM for professional development quali fi cations as certi fi ed Master Facilitator March 2010 • The seventh ‘Search for SEAMEO Young Scientists’ (SSYS) was held with the theme “Sustainable Solution for Local Community”.
