vii 50 Golden Years | 1967 - 2017 X Message It gives me a great pleasure to congratulate SEAMEO RECSAM for its 50 th Anniversary celebration and the release of 50 th Anniversary Coffee Table Book in conjuction with the anniversary celebration. SEAMEO RECSAM has indeed played a signi fi cant role in championing science and mathematics education in the region for the past 50 years and forging ahead with glory and pride. This year marks 50 th year of the immense effort made to help our science and mathematics educators push the pedagogical frontier, anchored by the human values of providing a holistic science and mathematics education in the region. This Coffee Table Book would tell us that journey and what SEAMEO RECSAM has accomplished. Looking ahead, science and mathematics education will continue to play an even more critical role in preparing the populace to tackle complex and challenging issues facing humanity, such as climate change, water scarcity and energy demands. With 50 years of experience, SEAMEO RECSAM will continue to inspire many more in its journey as the leading Centre for quality science and mathematics education in the region.
