120 Mr. Michael Loh Miin Tze Staff (Administrative Division) SEAMEO RECSAM Photos and SMS Miles Away Worth AMillion Smiles Meeting all these great people from so many different cultures sparks a lot of interesting conversations and ideas which makes each day unique. I enjoy the interaction with people although I am a quiet person learning to “Talk Less” and “Say More”. Working with RECSAM in these years brought me so much unforgettable moment and most of it comes through the expression of appreciation from clients, be it in the form of “framed photo”, a photograph or merely a simple SMS. As a responsible and patience driver, my duty is to provide clients with safe and accessible transport with high level driving standards as well as positive customer experience. I enjoyed my job working in RECSAM and through the years it has transformed my life into a better person. It has provided me a platform to learn and improve my skill as a driver. Dr. Ng Khar Thoe Staff (Research & Development Division) SEAMEO RECSAM It has been my childhood’s dream to be an educator/ academician with opportunities for research. Despite my aspiration to be emplaced in tertiary institution, I ended up working at RECSAM, the regional centre at my own hometown that was not given due attention at the earlier years. But I am still here now with the centre, seeing its growth through 40 th and 50 th anniversaries. Yes, we grow together over the turn of the 20 th and 21 st centuries, from non-digital to digital era, from teacher-centred to learner-centred pedagogical approaches, from existing to many more challenges. The centre is now a ‘matured adult’ who has to ‘walk swiftly’ to keep in pace with the fast running youths in making progress amidst speedy Internet era. Yet we still strive to feature ourselves at international, regional and national events to stay relevant. I believe every existence is born as an effect from a good cause, every meeting is fated, the journey of a thousand miles just begin with one step... Thanks for all who have brought us up in hardships with tears and joy; to my parents, grandparents, my ex-/comrades,we owe you all bunches of fl owers of gratitude… I wish you are all still here to commemorate this meaningful occasion. Life is eternal. Your blessings will keep us going for RECSAM to continue to exist with care… R espectful and responsive to everyone’s needs; always strives to… E nhance the intellectual, spiritual and physical growth of all… C ulminating learning opportunities with cherishing moments… S triving to achieve in every aspect with… A ll the best effort that we could give, and to… M ake everybody grows forever and ever…! Madam Rabuah Binti Hashim Staff (International House) SEAMEO RECSAM English is the Only Way Not to Get Astray I started my service with RECSAM in the year 1977 and will be completing my 40 years of service as a General Worker. I am blessed to be given the opportunity to serve RECSAM even though my salary started merely at RM140.00. Here in RECSAM, I have the chance to pick up some knowledge and communications skills in English when interacting with participants who are mostly foreigners that came and stay at the International House. Thank you RECSAM for giving me all this opportunities, good memories and chances to improve my English speaking.
