18 • Funding agencies for the Centre’s programmes and activities included the Government of Malaysia (SEAMEO Educational Development Fund and Endowment Fund), Governments of Australia, Royal Netherlands, the United States (Regional Educational Interchange Grant), Lee Foundation, German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and CIDA. The Commonwealth Secretariat, UNESCO-APEIDand UNDP provided scholarship for candidates from outside the SEAMEO Region. The British Council and the Royal Netherlands Government provided RECSAM with donations of books and materials for the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), in addition to regular donations from the Asia Foundation. • The Government of Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided the Centre with a grant for the purchase of equipment for its ETV Studio and establishmentof theCentre’s research facilities. It was also responsible for equipping and establishing the Centre’s fi rst computer laboratory (the NEC Lab). • The Governing Board approved funds for the setting up of RECSAM’s Welfare Loan Fund and Research Fund. • Negara Brunei Darussalam sent its representatives for the fi rst time to the 15 th RECSAM Governing Board Meeting held in Singapore from 10 – 14 September 1984. • By the end of the decade, the LRC had a total collection of 25,051 titles plus 2000 copies of RECSAM’s own publications. It had also increased its serial acquisitions to 103 titles. Distribution and circulation of RECSAM’s publications totalled 1908.
