The workshop on "Scienti fi c and Technological Literacy (STL) for All" was a collaborative venture between UNESCO-ICASE and SEAMEO RECSAM held from 10 to 15 May 1999. It was conducted by Dr. Jack Holbrook (Executive Secterary, ICASE), Mr. Orlando Rose Hall (UNESCO, Paris) and Mrs. Lucille C. Gregorio, Specialist, Science and Technology Education (UNESCO, Bangkok) and assisted by Dr. Ab. Rahim bin Selamat (Centre Director, RECSAM) and Mr. Ong Eng Tek (Science Specialist, RECSAM). Science Across the World (SAW) is the international education programme providing a forum for students aged 12 to 17 years to exchange facts and opinions with other countries, through a unique series of compact resource topics on environmental and social science issues in 18 languages. SAW is an exemplary international web-based programme which promotes project-based learning; initiated in 1990 by the Association of Science Education (ASE) of the United Kingdom (UK) under the sponsorship of British Petroleum(BP).
