The curriculum framework of HVWSHE is based from a philosophical foundation of values education that it is built upon a commitment to fi ve basic human values, namely; Right Conduct, Peace, Truth, Love and Non-Violence. A thoroughly written manual was produced to assist in the training for a group of 25 trainers from Southeast Asia. The integration of human values in all subjects and all activities were expected to be achieved through various direct and indirect approaches. The indirect approach can be achieved through the integration of values across the curriculum in science and social science subjects supported by ICT. Other approaches include brainstorming, clubs, direct experience, experiments, fi eld trips, games/play on human values, music, observation of nature, service activities, songs and stories/drama. The organisation and conduct of the Regional TOT on 6 to 25 May 2007 and the subsequent National Echo Training Courses on 29 to 31 January 2008 by RECSAM were the third phase of this SEAMEO-UN HABITAT cooperative project on Promoting Human Values- based Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education (HVWSHE) in Southeast Asian Schools. The fi rst and second phases of this project initiative were led by SEAMEO Secretariat in Thailand, SEAMEO INNOTECH in Philippines and SEAMOLEC in Indonesia.
