  • TPD - Teh Kim Hong

Ms. Teh Kim Hong is a Specialist in Mathematics Education of the Training Programme Division, SEAMEO RECSAM. She started her career as a mathematics and science teacher in a lower secondary school. After some years she taught mathematics at the upper secondary level.  She joined Teacher Education Institute (TEI) Penang Campus as a mathematics lecturer since 1997. Here, she taught Teaching Diploma Program for student teachers from post-secondary school and post- degree graduates. In 2006, the Teaching Degree Programme was implemented in TEI. She was subsequently entrusted as the Degree Programme Coordinator, and given the responsibility to participate in drafting and/or reviewing   mathematics education course outlines and teaching modules. Other than pre-service education, she also conducted in-service courses and workshops on classroom assessment for mathematics teachers. She was appointed by the Ministry of Education as a national trainer in Literacy and Numeracy Project. She was supervisor to guide many student teachers doing action research and teaching practicum in schools. She initiated outdoor mathematics and   lesson study among student teachers in the hope to enhance teaching and learning in schools. Her commitment in work had earned her excellent service award in year 2003 and 2010, subsequently an excellent lecturer award in 2011 by Ministry of Education. Her current areas of interest in teaching includes lesson study, classroom assessment and teaching mathematics through problem solving.
